We are excited to have Karina as part of our team at VCRC. Born in Michoacan Mexico, Karina moved to the city of Brentwood at the age of 5, started school and learned english. Her family moved between Mexico and California in three different occasions, after finishing high school and working at a local packing shed she decided to move at age of 20 to the city of Morelia Michoacan to start college at the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo where she earned her bachelor's degree and majored in Psychology in 2018. She volunteered while in college at the CRIT Teleton Michoacan, an organization that helps children with disabilities, cancer and autism and their families, teaching her a valuable lesson of the families needs and different life perspectives within the community. In the year of 2018 she decided to move back to Oakley where her parents and siblings live, pursuing better job opportunities and better life quality for her family. She is a mother of a two year old boy who currently lives with his dad in Mexico while the father’s immigration process is resolved.
