In addition to serving on the VCRC board, he is on the boards of the Friends of the Brentwood Library and the Brentwood Library Foundation. William Harms is a retired public relations professional who provides pro-bono consulting for Brentwood nonprofits. He volunteers at Pioneer School as a math tutor. Prior to moving to Brentwood with his wife to be near family, he worked as a reporter for the Chicago Tribune and as a writer in the News Office at the University of Chicago. He has been a magazine editor and most recently was associate editor of the Magazine of the University of Chicago School of Social Work Administration.
