After-School Academy

Whether it’s the school year or the summer, we’re here to help East County kids. At VCRC we love connecting with families and providing a number of programs in order to engage with kids!

After School Academy (ASA)

Our signature program, helps young students thrive. With programs in Brentwood and Byron, students attend after-school sessions three days a week at nominal cost. They build their reading skills, improve their social skills, and get help with homework from our dedicated staff and engaged volunteers. Our proven curriculum helps most students gain a full year (or more) of reading skills for each year they participate. Available for kindergarten through 5th graders, ASA runs Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday throughout the school year. Students are invited to join anytime. Summer Programs

Wish After School Academy could last all year? Well say no more, because we offer an ASA summer program where kids can enjoy numerous activities such as days at the park, discovering the library, or doing mad scientist experiments. Our approach to the traditional summer camp is having fun while learning about science, mindfulness, and reading. Some highlights from previous years were making homemade lava lamps, a free book fair, and fun with orbeez! The program is especially designed by our great instructors to ensure your child has an amazing summer experience.

Summer Camp

Our annual Summer Camp provides fun, exercise, and outdoor adventures while teaching leadership and healthy living. We mix in a number of activities that combine healthy movement and learning while having fun.
