Village Community Resource Center (VCRC) has its base of operations for our After School Academy, Brentwood, CA. It is a place of learning that also makes it fun! Brentwood is not your typical after school program. We engage with students with hands-on projects, mindfulness activities, viewing the world around us, and so much more! We strive to provide kids with more educational opportunities and partner with them to become more well-rounded in life. The After School Academy also includes our parents who attend Parent Academy. Here they learn skills to connect with their children and help them on the road to a brighter future.
Along with the fantastic support for students and their parents in our After School Academy, families are given opportunities to connect with the other services and resources the VCRC provides.

Overview:
Here at Village Community Resource Center (VCRC), we provide an after school program that is versatile in teaching students important education skills in a manner that makes learning interactive, exciting, and most of all fun! We create special lessons on subjects such as language arts, social studies, and STEM. STEM is an approach to learning based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Our students love STEM projects because they have an opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills, collaborate with peers, and understand the relevance of what they are learning. We also work with students on mindfulness, social justice, and (what kind of ) awareness. With our students, we don’t believe in just providing basic tutoring help, rather we create experiences which are well rounded with a variety of lessons which broaden the worldview of the next generation.
Our goal is to help the students to take charge of their education and learn the skills to become successful in their lives. The After School Academy (ASA) instructors strive to provide the best teaching experience for youth in the community. We hope the resources and tools we provide our students will help them succeed in school and flourish in the future. Available for kindergarten through 5th grade students, ASA runs Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday throughout the school year. Students are invited to join anytime.
ONE ON ONE SESSIONS:
Does your child need extra help during the school year? Does your child need extra time and practice solidifying concepts learned in school? Would you like your child to get ahead in math or language arts? Look no further! We are happy to offer one on one help and instruction to students who need that extra boost.
We will help your student in reading, math, or any other challenging subject. This is also a great resource if your child is in any IEP* or ESL** classes.
*The Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) is a plan or program developed to ensure that a child who has a disability identified under the law and is attending an elementary or secondary educational institution receives specialized instruction and related services.
***Language education for people learning English may be known as English as a second language (ESL).
GROUP SESSIONS:
Here at VCRC we are happy to offer group sessions for our students. Our group sessions not only have time to help students with homework but offer extracurricular activities to enhance their learning. Our sessions revolve around specially made lesson plans that will expand students’ horizons in math, science, and language arts. Art projects, education based games, and science experiments are just some of the things students can look forward to in our group sessions
